Slacking
Yes, once again I am writing from my desk at work.
The days are getting slower and slower, and with all the businesses that are getting to be in trouble, I wonder how long this company has left. I know my days here are numbered, but I'd rather leave before things get bad.
I'm talking the next few years, not months. We have enough business to keep afloat at the moment, and we keep bringing new ideas in to drum up more business. I like to think that I have a hand in making things better around here.
Speaking of which, I got a raise! I started out making $12.20 and now, after my 3 month review, I'm up to $14.50. That seems pretty darn good to me. And trust me, I do earn it. When I'm working, I'm working hard, and I do quality work. I think it would be fun to take some classes and maybe get a certification in the type of design work I do here.
I'm bringing home a giant map tonight. Long story, but it was a customer's and we mounted it wrong, so had to buy him a new one. It has some bubbles in it, but nothing major, and it's laminated and mounted onto foamboard so it can be written on with a dry erase marker and it can have pins into it, so it will be very handy for Alister and his flight sim stuff. Anyway, I hope he'll like it!
I'm also bringing home a big piece of MDF to do my puzzles on. I think if I had that I would be able to work on the dang things more often. I like puzzles because they give your brain a workout, and it's something to do inside when it's cold outside! Plus, it's not something I have to get Ali to do with me :P
And it's the weekend, almost! It's almost lunch and after that only 4 hours of work and weekend! I have never really had a strictly mon-fri job before, and am only now learning the joy of weekends. Roll on Saturday!
Actually, tomorrow I'll hopefully be coming back to work to get a bunch of pallets chopped up to be used as firewood. Free wood and dry wood means we don't have to go up to the farm and drag it all down! Not pleasant, especially when wet.
And on the 12th of August we'll be heading up to Nelson to welcome Ali's mom home from her trip and to visit the fam. I'm looking forward to that not only because it will be warmer, but because Ali's fam always makes me feel so welcome, and that's a very good feeling when my family is so far away.
Then I get to see my family just a couple weeks after that! Wow, it's getting close. I'm so excited. I already have so many plans :D
Anyway, better get to work and earn my raise!
Steph
